At Knight Const. and Supply, Inc. (KCS), we have extensive experience installing fire protection systems for the hydroelectric industry. KCS’s skilled tradesmen understand the complexities of integrating new fire protection systems into the existing powerhouse generators and control systems. KCS works with a variety of FPE’s and supplier partners for design and supply of these fire alarm and suppression systems.
CO2 Fire Suppression Systems
We have designed, installed and commissioned CO2 fire suppression systems in accordance with NFPA 12 and alarm system in accordance with NFPA 72 protecting the 27 generators on the four USACE Snake River Dams and Dworshak Dam, along with upgrading systems protecting the 29 generators at the Chief Joseph Dam.
Fine Water Mist Fire Suppression Systems
KCS installed NFPA 750 compliant fine water mist fire suppression systems and alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72 for the oil storage and purification rooms of the four Snake River Dams, Dworshak Dam, The Dalles Dam and at Chief Joseph Dam. For a project at Grand Coulee Dam, KCS designed and installed materials and equipment to convert the 37,300 cu-ft intake gate repair pit to a code compliant gate painting booth, complete with fine water mist fire protection and ventilation systems.
Deluge Sprinkler Systems
KCS has completed design and installation of deluge sprinkler systems at several hydroelectric facilities, protecting Generator Step Up transformers.
